Perfect for all areas of STEM, this set of wooden unit blocks includes 2 x Unit Block Set (BS05). Each wooden block is designed to fit together in specific ratios and is excellent for supporting open-ended and well as maths-based play. The longest block measures 52cm long x 6.5cm wide x 3cm high. This set of unit blocks supports a STEM and a STEAM based approach in early childhood. It encourages and develops the problem solving, perseverance and creative thinking that are integral to STEM and STEAM. This curriculum integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Art, and the resources need to be able to support these different fields as one integrated pedagogy. Early STEM and STEAM based resources help to encourage this type of learning through play in young children and helps to support children to become confident learners.

Construction resources help to promote a variety of cognitive and physical skills. Construction and manipulative resources can help to promote both fine motor and gross motor development. They encourage problem solving and logical thinking to solve issues such as balancing blocks, where the next piece goes and how to make the structure that they want to build. Team work is also a key feature in the use of construction resources. Children can work together to design and build intricate and thoughtful structures using their creativity, imagination and logical thinking. Social, communication and language skills are all improved through playing with construction resources. Children build perseverance as they build their constructions. Play encourages creativity, imagination, perseverance and the development of language and social skills. Children become more confident and develop a stronger sense of identity through play.
