The Creating Sight-Word Sentence Centre allows children to master 39 high-frequency sight-words as they create fun, rebus-style sentences. Simply slide a sentence strip into the handy activity tray, and then use colour-coded picture word cards to complete each sentence. As they do, children create simple rebus sentences that focus on just 3 to 5 sight-words at a time and get active practice using common sight-words in context. This ready-to-use centre has enough materials for 4 children to use at one time, including 32 different colour-coded sentence strips, 120 picture-word cards, and 4 wooden trays. Each tray is approximately 40.5 cm long. The Creating Sight-Word Sentence Centre is a fun and engaging way for children to explore language and literacy. It's a hands-on learning resource that uses the combination of words and pictures to allow students to build on their skills using multiple learning techniques. Pictures help give visual representation to students as they learn to ˜read' as well as memorise familiar or new words. As children build on their familiarity and confidence with sight-words and reading they are able to build increasingly longer and more complex sentences. Students are also able to get creative with the pictures, using them as a learning resource to build their own stories.
