Sight Word String Ups can help reinforce sight words in a hands-on way. Use this kit to string up words on the chenille stems using chunky letter beads and corresponding word cards. Beads have big holes for easy manipulation and are 2 cm tall. Includes guide, 218 word cards, 4 trays, 280 letter beads, 100 chenille stems. Sight words are words that are difficult for children to sound out and therefore need to be recognised on sight. High frequency words, are commonly used words that young children are encouraged to memorise as a whole by sight, so that they can automatically recognise these words in print without having to use any strategies to decode them. Learning words by sight is a strategy usually used alongside a phonics approach whereby students learn the sounds represented by individual letters and groups of letters and can read words they have never seen before, using this knowledge.
