These chindi recycled floor rugs are handmade under Fair Trade conditions. They are made from recycled cotton and jute materials. Each chindi rug is unique and one of a kind. This floor mat measures 150cm in diameter. This rug features a mix of bright coloured cottons and natural jute. These mats can coordinate with almost any play space, classroom or foyer.

Our range of chindi carpets are produced under Fair Trade conditions in India. They are made using recycled fabric offcuts from items such as clothing or furniture. Artisans weave these recycled cloth pieces into long ropes which are then wound and woven to create these beautiful mats. This Indian floor rug is round in shape. As item is hand made, the exact shape, colour and size may vary. Due to the heavy weight and weave of these rugs it is important not to pull them or lift them when they are open flat. This will tear the sewing. When you need to move this mat please roll it up and have atleast 2 people carry to it position. Pulling this rug will tear it.

These floor carpets are soft to sit on and create a wonderful atmosphere in any space. Cushions and soft furnishings help to create warm and inviting spaces for play and learning, Using cushions and soft furnishings such as carpets, fabrics and canopies also help to reduce the noise level as they absorb sounds unlike hard surfaces which bounce sounds around a room. Using a variety of textures, fabrics, colours and materials helps to create an environment that is visually appealing and stimulating, but also calming. The learning environment should be comfortable and welcoming for children, parents and educators. Young children respond differently, based on the design, the types of resources, and the materials used in the environment. An effectively designed classroom has the potential to positively influence all areas of a child’s development, including physical, social, emotional and cognitive.

Soft furnishings are excellent when dividing up spaces and are perfect for use in quiet areas such as libraries, reading nooks and for making small spaces for children and students who require a calmer environment. They are very suitable for use in flexible learning environments. Offering children and students options for sitting other than a traditional chair. This mat is a heavy item, however it may slip on hard floor. For best use we recommend to use on of our non-slip mats underneath or that care is taken when using any mat that does not have a non-slip backing.

Carpets, and other soft furnishings, make terrific additions to the early childhood education care setting as well as the school environment. Carpets support a range of room settings and configurations including open floor spaces or informal soft furnishings. Both these types of room settings can facilitate collaboration with others, discussion, demonstration, experiential, explicit, feedback and reflection, guided learning or independent learning modes.

This mat is a heavy item, however it may slip on hard floor. For best use we recommend to use on of our non-slip mats underneath or that care is taken when using any mat that does not have a non-slip backing. As item is hand made, the exact shape, colour and size may vary. It can be spot cleaned, dry cleaned or steam cleaned. We do not recommend to use outdoors or in bright sunlight as the material colours may fade over time. When moving this rug, please have two people lift mat instead of pulling it. We recommend to use a proprietary stain protection treatment prior to use and update as required. As this carpet does not have stain protection it may stain and mark.
